Some of the finest Skiing slopes in and around Manali are Solang Nallah, Deo Tibba and Rohtang Pass. National level Skiing competitions are also organised in Solang Nallah. Best time to visit Himachal Pradesh for enjoying winter sports is from January to March.
Kufri, Himachal Pradesh
Kufri is an another destination in Himachal Pradesh which has been blessed with the finest Skiing slopes in North India. It is located at a distance of 12 km from Shimla on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway No. 22, at an altitude of 2,743 meters. Kufri also plays a host of annual winter sports festival, which is generally organised every year in the month of February.
Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh
Narkanda is located 64 km away from Shimla at a height of 3,143 meters above sea level. It is one of the winter sports destinations in Himachal Pradesh which is flocked by a number of tourists as soon as snowfall starts in winters. Nestled amidst evergreen Deodar and Pine forests, Narkanda has undulating Skiing slopes which are best suited for cross country skiers.
Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir
Gulmarg boasts of one of the best winter sports venue in India. Located at a distance of 52 km from Srinagar at an elevation of 2,690 meters, Gulmarg has Asia's longest and highest cable car facility. It features excellent terrains for all skier levels.
Come December and the verdant slopes here wear the blanket of snow, facilitating in conducting winter sports of all kinds. Apart from Skiing, Gulmarg also has the facilities of Heli Skiing.
Apart from these famous winter sports destinations, there are a number of other Skiing destinations which attract a large number of adventure freaks in winters from across the globe like Auli, Munsyari and Pauri in Uttarakhand.
